Dartmoor Prison is located in Princetown, located in the middle of the moor. The building of the prison was largely responsible for the growing community of Princetown in the early nineteenth century. It has also been the stimulus for stories and myths as it is such a large part of Dartmoor’s heritage. As part of a new project called The War Prison at Princetown, young people from across Dartmoor have researched the early history of the prison and created a play and a short film based on facts they discovered.
