Dartmoor's Rich Store

Myths on Dartmoor range from those that purport to explain the origins of a landscape feature, such as Branscombe’s Loaf (pictured above), to those which echo archetypal themes of loss and remorse, such as the story of Kitty Jay, to those which play on our deepest fears, such as the stories of Jan Reynolds in the great storm at Widecombe, the Evil Rider,  and most recently the Hairy Hands. Other material on folklore can be found in the history section and across the site.
